USA Wrestling’s Girls High School Development Committee, led by Joan Fulp and Andrea Yamamoto, have recognized West Virginia as the 43rd state to host a state girls wrestling championships.
Alabama Becomes 42nd State With Official Girls State Championships
The Alabama High School Athletic Association Central Board of Control, in its meetings on July 26, voted to sanction Girls’ Wrestling as championship sport starting with the 2023-24 school year. At the same time, the AHSAA also voted to sanction Girls’ Flag Football.

Year-End National Girls High School Rankings, Pound-For-Pound Rankings Released
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame, USA Wrestling and FloWrestling have released the National Girls High School Rankings for July.
Ranking evaluates all girls enrolled in grades 8-12, and athletes from all 50 states are eligible for selection.
