WIN Magazine Names Bender Mike Chapman Impact Award Winner
USA Wrestling Executive Director Rich Bender is the 2026 recipient of WIN Magazine's Mike Chapman Impact Award.
Awarded annually since 1995, in 2008, the award recognizes an individual, organization or group that has made a significant impact on the sport of wrestling.
Carolina Beach Nationals Features Talented Field
The Carolina Beach Nationals is the qualifying event for the 2026 U.S. Beach World Teams at the U17 and U20 levels, and one of the qualifying events for U.S. teams competing in the 2026 Senior Beach World Series. In addition, the Carolina Beach Nationals includes national-level competition in Beach Wrestling in divisions from 8U through Masters. There is still time for athletes to register to compete in all available age divisions.
Tonya Verbeek Named USA Wrestling National Women’s Freestyle Assistant and Resident Coach
USA Wrestling, the national governing body for wrestling in the United States, has named Tonya Verbeek as its next National Women’s Freestyle Assistant and Resident Coach.
Verbeek, originally from Grimsby, Ontario, Canada, is among the most credentialed athletes and coaches in women’s wrestling. She joins the U.S. women’s freestyle coaching staff, alongside head coach Terry Steiner and development coach Jessica Medina Bunker, coming over from the University of Iowa, where she was an assistant coach.

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame on Wednesday announced that Austin Collins of Wray, Colorado is the 2026 national winner of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award (DSHSEA).

2026 World Team Trials Challenge Tournament Men’s Freestyle Qualifiers
Lots of winners of our Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award scheduled to compete in men's freestyle at the 2026 Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament on May 14-15 at Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky, including national winners David Carr, Zain Retherford and Aeoden Sinclair.
The tournament will feature five weight classes with the winners qualifying for Final X on June 19 in Newark, New Jersey, where they will face the U.S. Open champion in a best-of-three series to determine the Senior World Team member.
