Kilty, Welker Battle Back to Wrestle for Bronze
ZAGREB, Croatia – The U.S. women picked up a couple signature wins during the Wednesday morning session at the 2025 World Championships, with the duo of Macey Kilty and Kylie Welker winning repechage, and three athletes qualifying for the quarterfinal round.
Felicity Taylor at 53 kg, Adaugo Nwachukwu at 62 kg, Kennedy Blades at 68 kg and Alexandria Glaude at 72 kg also wrestled on Wednesday. Nwachukwu, Blades and Glaude each made the quarterfinals before falling, staying in the mix for repechage. Taylor dropped her opener and was eliminated from the tournament.

The surprise story of the tournament for Team USA came at 65 kg with Real Woods catapulting to a bronze medal in one of the traditionally toughest weight classes in the world.

ZAGREB, Croatia – Kyle Snyder earned a spot in the 97 kg semifinals at the 2025 World Championships and is a win away from capturing his eighth-straight World Championships medal dating back to 2015 while two-time age-group World medalist David Carr moved into the 74 kg bronze medal match. Carr is a win away from securing his first Senior-level medal.

Valencia Wins World Title; Forrest Finishes Fifth
ZAGREB, Croatia – Zahid Valencia was dominant in winning the gold medal at 86 kg at the Senior World Championships, shutting out all five of his opponents.
His gold is the first U.S. medal of the 2025 World Championships. He was the only member of men’s freestyle group one to find a place on the medal stand.
