United World Wrestling Releases Brackets for 2026 Senior Pan American Championships in Coralville, Iowa
CORALVILLE, Iowa – United World Wrestling has released brackets in the Greco-Roman, women’s freestyle and men’s freestyle divisions for the 2026 Senior Pan American Championships, which begin on Thursday morning at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.
Five returning Senior World medalists highlight the U.S. lineup—Kylie Welker in women’s freestyle, plus Zahid Valencia, Trent Hidlay, Levi Haines and Real Woods in men’s freestyle.
David Taylor Named 2025 USA Wrestling Terry McCann Men’s Freestyle Coach of the Year
COLORADO SPRINGS – David Taylor, who was the Ohio and National winner of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award in 2009, has been named the 2025 USA Wrestling Terry McCann Men’s Freestyle Coach of the Year. This is the first time Taylor has won the prestigious honor.
Taylor (Stillwater, Okla./Cowboy RTC) is the head men’s wrestling coach at Oklahoma State University and coaches athletes with the Cowboy Regional Training Center based in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Brazel Marquez Named 2025 USA Wrestling Women’s Freestyle Coach of the Year
COLORADO SPRINGS – Brazel Marquez (Bethlehem, Pa./Lehigh Valley Wrestling RTC) has been named the 2025 USA Wrestling Women’s Freestyle Coach of the Year. This is the first time Marquez has won the prestigious honor.
Marquez is the head women’s wrestling coach at Lehigh University and coaches women with the Lehigh Valley Wrestling Regional Training Center based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Hall of Fame Mourns the Passing of Longtime Board Member Wayne Renneisen
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame was saddened to learn of the passing of longtime Board of Governors member Wayne Renneisen.
After first joining the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Board of Governors in 1996, Renneisen became a Governor's Associate in 2002 before returning to the board from 2005 to 2013. After again becoming a Governor's Associate in 2014, Renneisen returned to the board in 2018.
Caley Graber Named USA Wrestling Athlete Of The Week
Caley Graber, who is the Minnesota winner of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award in 2026, has been named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week.
WIN Magazine Names Bender Mike Chapman Impact Award Winner
USA Wrestling Executive Director Rich Bender is the 2026 recipient of WIN Magazine's Mike Chapman Impact Award.
Awarded annually since 1995, in 2008, the award recognizes an individual, organization or group that has made a significant impact on the sport of wrestling.
Carolina Beach Nationals Features Talented Field
The Carolina Beach Nationals is the qualifying event for the 2026 U.S. Beach World Teams at the U17 and U20 levels, and one of the qualifying events for U.S. teams competing in the 2026 Senior Beach World Series. In addition, the Carolina Beach Nationals includes national-level competition in Beach Wrestling in divisions from 8U through Masters. There is still time for athletes to register to compete in all available age divisions.
Tonya Verbeek Named USA Wrestling National Women’s Freestyle Assistant and Resident Coach
USA Wrestling, the national governing body for wrestling in the United States, has named Tonya Verbeek as its next National Women’s Freestyle Assistant and Resident Coach.
Verbeek, originally from Grimsby, Ontario, Canada, is among the most credentialed athletes and coaches in women’s wrestling. She joins the U.S. women’s freestyle coaching staff, alongside head coach Terry Steiner and development coach Jessica Medina Bunker, coming over from the University of Iowa, where she was an assistant coach.
