LAS VEGAS – The final four best-of-three championship series in the 2026 Greco-Roman World Team Trials are set after a fiery semifinal session on Friday evening at The Expo at World Market Center.
2024 Olympians Kamal Bey (82 kg), Payton Jacobson (87 kg) and Adam Coon (130 kg) all put forth impressive wins in the Greco-Roman Group B semis—Bey shut down 2025 U23 Pan American champion Adrian Artsisheuskiy in a 5-0 decision, Jacobson exploded to an 8-0 technical fall on 2022 U23 World Team member Tyler Cunningham, and Coon outlasted two-time U20 World bronze medalist Aden Attao on criteria, 3-3.
Bey, who will seek to make his fifth Senior World Team, is slated to face 2026 Thor Masters bronze medalist Fritz Schierl in the 82 kg championship series.
Jacobson and Coon are up against past World Team members in two of the most anticipated matches of the event.
Jacobson will see Beka Melelashvili, who was the 82 kg U.S. representative last year. Melelashvili defeated 2023 World Team member Zac Braunagel, 5-3, to book his spot in the 87 kg finals.
Coon will renew his rivalry against four-time World Team member Cohlton Schultz, a matchup Greco-Roman fans have grown accustomed to seeing at heavyweight. Schultz has posted a pin and two technical falls so far.
New blood will take over at 97 kg as 2024 U20 World Team member Arian Khosravy and Army WCAP’s Timothy Young will battle for their World Team selection.
Winners of the Greco-Roman World Team Trials qualify to represent Team USA at the 2026 Senior World Championships in Manama, Bahrain, this October. The first six members of the World Team will be set on Friday evening during the conclusion of Greco-Roman Group A.
The Senior Greco-Roman Group B championship series round one and medal matches are set for 10 a.m. (PT) on Saturday. Round two and three (if necessary) of the Group B championship series will take place at 6 p.m. (PT).
All the action from the U.S. Open Championships is available to watch live or on-demand on FloWrestling. Brackets and match-by-match results can be found on USA Bracketing.
