LAS VEGAS – Greco-Roman Group B took the raised mats at the 2026 U.S. Open Championships, with several notable names securing semifinal spots at 82 kg, 87 kg, 97 kg and 130 kg.
2024 Olympians and top seeds Kamal Bey (82 kg) and Payton Jacobson (87 kg) powered through Friday morning’s preliminary session untested, with two technical falls apiece. Bey, who bumped up from 77 kg, is up against 2025 U23 Pan American champion Adrian Artsisheuskiy in the semifinals. Likewise, Jacobson will face 2022 U23 World Team member Tyler Cunningham in the next round.
Fellow Paris Olympian Adam Coon trucked his way to the 130 kg semifinals against two-time U20 World bronze medalist Aden Attao with a pair of technical falls. Returning World Team member Cohlton Schultz mans the No. 1 seed in the weight and stands opposite Marine Courtney Freeman in the top-side semifinal.
The upset of the session came at 97 kg, with returning World Team member Michial Foy taking a 9-5 loss at the hands of 2024 U20 World Team member Arian Khosravy. Foy took a 5-4 lead to the break, but it was all Khosravy in the second frame. The critical sequence came with just under two minutes left—Khosravy countered a Foy attack to his back going out of bounds, which ultimately put the match out of reach.
The semifinal to watch is at 87 kg, a battle of World Team reps—Zac Braunagel taking on Beka Melelashvili. Braunagel was the 87 kg World Team member in 2023, while Melelashvili held the 82 kg spot last year.
The Senior Greco-Roman Group B semifinals are set for 4 p.m. local time on Friday, followed by the conclusion of the Greco-Roman Group A championship series. The Group B finals take place on Saturday.
