Development Officer Position Opens at Hall of Fame

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame (NWHOF) invites applications for the position of Development Officer. This position will lead development activities for the Dan Gable Museum, and will serve as a key member of the NWHOF development team. This is an outstanding leadership opportunity at one of the nation’s most esteemed sports Halls of Fame and Museums.

Founded in 1976, the mission of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame is to preserve history, recognize excellence and inspire future generations. The NWHOF in Stillwater, Oklahoma acquired the Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, Iowa in 2010.  In the last three years, NWHOF has experienced unprecedented growth in programming impact and financial stability. The scope and programming areas of both museums are far-reaching, encompassing state, national, and international audiences about the sport’s heritage and legacy makers.

NWHOF seeks a collaborative professional to innovate a development program at the NWHOF Dan Gable Museum to better serve its mission and diverse constituency in the city of Waterloo, state of Iowa, and across the United States. The Development Officer will build on the current success of our development efforts while establishing strategic direction for increased financial support to the DGM and NWHOF. The DO will work with NWHOF staff, board members, Dan Gable and stakeholders to advance engagement in the operations and opportunities of the DGM and NWHOF. S/he will also provide leadership to the existing Beyond the Walls comprehensive capital campaign.

Candidates will have five or more years of experience in development and fundraising, including but not limited to: demonstrated success in cultivating and soliciting annual and major gifts, innovative structuring of fundraising operations, experience with a capital campaign, creativity and efficiency in managing volunteers, and a background in identifying and engaging donors from multiple and diverse constituencies.

The DO will have an understanding of and passion for the mission, culture, and goals of this organization and will champion the Dan Gable Museum to a passionate constituency. A bachelor's degree is required and a background or affinity for the sport is highly desirable. The DO will travel extensively.
