Day of Giving, Fall Appeal Raise Over $113,000
The wrestling family answered the bell and made the National Wrestling Hall of Fame’s special “Day of Giving: Help Your Hall” a success on October 28.
Generous contributions from across the United States raised $66,776 of the $100,000 goal, including $33,500 from the Hall of Fame’s State Chapter programs. The Hall of Fame has also received $46,253 from its Fall Appeal.

“Day of Giving allowed us to share how the pandemic has impacted the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum,” said Lee Roy Smith, Executive Director, National Wrestling Hall of Fame. “We are grateful to our wrestling legends who helped us spread the word about Day of Giving by sharing the impact that wrestling has had on their lives and what the Hall of Fame means to them.
“We are thankful to the members of our wrestling family for showing their support with generous contributions,” he added. “We have made an impact on our budget shortfall, but are still in need of assistance and are hopeful that others will be able to contribute.”
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hall of Fame has experienced a $200,000 shortfall in its operating budget after being forced to close its museums in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Waterloo, Iowa, and postpone Honors Weekend, Dan Gable Museum events and 24 State Chapter induction ceremonies.
The Hall of Fame has already made significant cuts to its operating budget in an effort to minimize its expenses.
