12th Annual Golf Outing Another Success
On Monday, August 11, over 100 golfers descended upon the Jumping Brook Country Club in Neptune, New Jersey, to enjoy a bright sunny day of golf, good food, camaraderie, and enjoyment. A change in the venue this year provided everyone, but especially the golfers, with 18 holes of challenging play driven by a “scramble “ format, and a number of water hazards, traps, and interesting “dog legs” to negotiate.
The day began with a lunch buffet followed by opportunities for the golfers to “prep” for the course with a practice putting green and driving range. Play began after 1 PM as a number of 4-somes began their attempt to meet the course challenges, many golfers for the very first time at Jumping Brook. A “Putting Contest” for every golfer was included in the 18 hole round of play. Co-Chairperson Ernie Finizio commented that “this year’s effort, and especially on a new course provided golfers with a different setting, and those 106 that played had a great day”.
Later in the afternoon after the golf had concluded, everyone who partook in the day was treated to a buffet dinner with an assortment of appetizers, entrees, side dishes, and a complement of desserts. Following the dinner, all participants had the opportunity to “try their luck” with a Silent Auction that included a number of prizes providing chances to win play on a number of New Jersey golf courses, golf equipment, restaurants, and services from vendors. There also was a “live” auction for the opportunity to win tickets to a N.Y. Giants game, other golf venues, and even a “stay and play” at a golf venue in the Dominican Republic.
In “rounding out the day”, Co-Chairs of the event Ernie Finizio and Howie O’Neil expressed their thanks “to the many participants, but also to the many volunteers who provided their time and talent, the donors and contributors, and the Jumping Brook Country Club management and staff for helping to make the day a huge success”.
