2016 Wrestling Springfest
The Massachusetts Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame is proud to host its annual Springfest which will include an awards presentation, All-Star dual-meet and college fair. The day’s events will begin at 11 AM on Sunday May 1st at the Jordan Athletic Center of the Belmont Hill School, in Belmont MA. On that day we will name the 2016 Massachusetts Dave Schultz Award winner and the recipient of the Jim Peckham “Earning the Right to Win” Scholarship.
The awards portion of the day will begin at 11:00 AM. At noon, two outstanding college wrestling coaches will discuss wrestling at the college level with regard to academics, time commitments, social life and team requirements at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels. The subsequent college fair will have 16 New England College Coaches in attendance to answer your questions. At 1:00 PM we will host an All-Star dual meet between public and prep school wrestlers.
The Massachusetts Chapter is pleased to honor the best wrestlers, coaches and contributors of our state. We will pay tribute to Ryan O’Boyle from North Reading (2x All-American) as the Massachusetts College Wrestler of the Year, Eric Reyes of Dedham HS as the Public High School Wrestler of the Year, Peter Tedesco of Belmont Hill as the Prep School Wrestler of the Year, Wayne Griffin of North Attleboro HS as the Public High School Coach of the Year and Don Bradley of Belmont Hill as the Prep School Coach of the Year.
In addition we will recognize Jose Valenzuela of Boston Youth Wrestling with the Bay State Pride Award, Nick Avery from Lincoln Sudbury HS as the Up & Coming High School Coach of the Year, Jon Egan from Roger Williams University as the College Coach of the Year and Scott McQuaide from Chelmsford as the Youth/Club Coach of the Year.
We sincerely hope that you will bring a group of your wrestlers and participate in this wonderful event. Please forward this to your junior and sophomore wrestlers and their families too.
