13th Annual Honors Banquet
This 13th Annual Massachusetts Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame induction will be held on Saturday November 1 from 5:15-10 PM at the Framingham Sheraton.
One of the things that makes this event so special each year is the gathering of members (past inductees and directors) to welcome the new class of honorees. On November 1, your hall of fame will be honoring Mark Donavan (Shawsheen Tech), Chip Dunn (Haverhill & Phillips Andover), Brian Gallagher(Foxboro, Walpole & Norton), Larry Tremblay (Winchester), and Greg Wilson (Thayer Academy & Bridgewater State).
In addition, we will be recognizing George Bossi for his fifty years of coaching at Lowell HS and his overall contributions to Massachusetts wrestling. Coach Bossi's 1989 Lowell team will also be recognized on the 25th anniversary of its state championship, along with three other championship teams:1989 Tewksbury, 1995 Winchester, and 1996-2004 Foxboro.
We'll kick off the evening with a Special Reception in the Sheraton's Commons Room at 5:15 PM. This is an intimate ceremony to unveil the plaques and poster boards for the individual honorees amongst friends and family. It is especially meaningful for this year's honorees to have past members participate in this ceremony and welcome them into the hall of fame club. Please join the Class of 2014 for their unveiling ceremony.
At 6 PM, a social hour will take place in the Commons Room, the Board Room, and in the Main Promenade. This is a great time to catch up with old friends and meet new ones while enjoying an appetizer and a beverage. There will be quite a crowd on hand to support this year's honorees.
By 6:45 PM, all members (past and present inductees and directors) should make their way back to the Commons Room for group photos. All past and present honorees will be asked to participate in the parade of honorees into the Grand Ballroom at 7 PM.
The banquet and ceremonies in the Grand Ballroom will feature a scrumptious buffet and, of course, the induction of five outstanding individuals and the recognition of four championship teams.
The ceremonies will be officiated by 2013 inductee Steven Biondolillo, with assistance from Monsignor John McLaughlin from the Class of 2005. It promises to be a fun night of recognition and reminiscing that won't end with the completion of the official ceremonies.
After the banquet, there will be plenty of laughs in the Postern Grille. If you're interested in staying overnight, rooms can be reserved for $115/night. On Sunday morning, the hall of fame will sponsor a complimentary breakfast buffet for all overnight banquet guests.
