RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – The U.S. wrapped up the men’s freestyle competition at the 2026 U20 Pan American Championships on Thursday at the Physical Education Center Admiral Adalberto Nunes (CEFAN) with a perfect performance. The U.S. won gold in all 10 weight classes and piled up 250 points to claim the team title in Rio de Janeiro.

Grey Burnett was named the outstanding wrestler and received the Golden Boot after going 4-0 in the 57 kg division without surrendering a point. He opened with a 10-0 technical fall against Chile, then added shutouts over Canada (10-0) in the quarterfinals, Guatemala (11-0) in the semifinals and Puerto Rico (10-0) in the gold-medal match.

Vince Bouzakis and Michael Boyle recorded the only pins of the day for the U.S. Bouzakis needed just 60 seconds to flatten his Guatemalan opponent in his 70 kg opener, then followed with an 11-0 win over Puerto Rico and a 10-0 win over Canada in the final. Boyle dominated the 97 kg bracket, earning technical falls in his opening three matches before pinning his Mexican opponent nine seconds into the championship match.

The U.S. finished 35-0 across all 10 weight classes, with 30 technical falls, two pins and three decisions. Burnett, Boyle, Ryan Burton (79 kg), Brock Mantanona (86 kg), who was the California winner of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award in 2024, and Jimmy Mastny (92 kg) each went 4-0 on the way to gold.

Six Americans completed the tournament without allowing a point in their brackets: Burnett, Bouzakis, Burton, Mantanona, Mastny and Coby Merrill (125 kg).

In the team standings, Canada was second with 151 points, followed by Puerto Rico with 132 points, Mexico with 112 points and Brazil with 106 points.

Archived matches from the event are available to the U.S. audience through FloWrestling. Final brackets are hosted on UWW Arena.
