Gutierrez, Hruby Win Beach Wrestling Gold at U17 Pan American Championships

PANAMA CITY, Panama – Aubree Gutierrez and Matilda Hruby closed out the 2026 U17 Pan American Championships as double gold medalists after capturing championships during Sunday’s beach wrestling competition at Ciudad Deportiva Irving Saladino.
Coming off gold medal performances in women’s freestyle on Friday, Gutierrez and Hruby found success in the sand, going unbeaten. Hruby picked up three wins at 75 kg and blanked her opponents to claim gold. At 55 kg, Gutierrez went 4-0 and outscored her opponents 14-2.
Team USA also picked up two medals on the men’s side. Both coming in the 90 kg division. Ryder Schulte moved into the gold medal bout but dropped a 3-0 contest to finish with silver. Talon Worden finished with bronze for the U.S. after his bronze medal opponent did not compete.

Joaquin Chacon and Rodney Sabin lost opening round matches at 70 kg and 90 kg for the U.S.
At 65 kg in the women’s tournament, Aleia Apostol lost her opening round contest by criteria in a 2-2 affair.
Prior to both tournaments being adjusted to single elimination competition, Worden won two original knockout matches over Venezuela’s Ricardo Pereira Santander, 3-0 and 3-1. Schulte also earned a 5-0 victory against Angel Lagos Luengo of Chile.
In the women’s original knockout contests, Apostol won 5-0 and 3-2 against Chile’s Fernanda Riffo Catalan. Hruby swept Fallon Jackson of Jamaica, 3-1 and 6-0.

Over the four days and four disciplines at the 2026 U17 Pan American Championships, the U.S. won 34 medals with 25 golds.
