This year the Upstate New York Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame present at their exhibit tables at the Boys NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships an exhibition advocating for the sport of girls wrestling and the sanctioning of the girls wrestling by the NYSPHSAA. Kyra Barry, Elmira College Girls Wrestling Team and Nikki Macaluso along with the Chapter provide some wonderful artifacts and memorabilia promoting girls wrestling in the Empire State. Kyra provide poster boards demonstrating how the sport has grown and some very interesting facts about the diversity of the young ladies wrestling on the high school and college level. Elmira offered a snap shot of girls wrestling at Elmira with their new singlets and pamphlets regarding the college. Mia and Nikki Macaluso shared some of the awards that Mia has gotten while wrestling at Minisink Valley. And the Upstate New York Chapter highlighted their previous Tricia Saunders’ Award nominees and award winners which included Hailey Finn, Damana Racciatti, Cheyenne Sisenstein and Mia Macaluso. Mia went on the win the Northeast Region Award as well. The exhibition was well received and stimulated a great deal of conversation regarding girls wrestling in New York.
