David Soderholm Says it All

This note from David Soderholm, Class of 2009 was sent to our Media Services.

Gary and NWHOF Fla. Chapter.

It has not been easy not being able to get on the mat like I use to. One of my ways of dealing with it is working with the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In the past two months I have been deployed to the Texas border twice (processing migrants) and now I’m working on the Coast Guard Flag Ship Eagle. This is a three week deployment with a new group of Cadets each week, out at sea. What has made it even more enjoyable is the amount of former wrestlers that I run into. Border Patrol Agents, Ice Agents , Cadets at the Coast Guard Academy. Each conversation turns into how much wrestling has helped them become a better person. How much they loved the sport. Even if your not on a mat you can bond with people over the sport of wrestling. I do miss it and here’s a picture of the Boat I’m working on this summer.

You never know where the sport of wrestling comes up.

Our Mission: To honor the sport of wrestling by preserving its history, recognizing extraordinary individual achievements, and inspiring future generations
