Connecticut Chapter Hosts Breakfast for 2022 Inductees
The Connecticut Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame held their annual breakfast with incoming inductees at Platt High School in Meriden recently.
Before each banquet, the chapter hosts a breakfast event with the men and women who will be inducted in the upcoming 2022 chapter Hall of Fame ceremony and their chosen liaison.
The chapter asks each inductee to select a liaison to help them with a variety of tasks associated with the banquet – what to wear, how the banquet works, photography, tickets, seating, induction speech, induction video and more. The chapter reviewed a 20-page liaison and honoree induction booklet that provides plenty of details about the banquet and those who have been honored before them.
The breakfast is an annual tradition of the chapter first started in 2009. It was hosted by Dr. Erich Doubek, a member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Chapter.
The chapter has selected seven deserving nominees for induction into the Connecticut Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame next April at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Ben Aleks, a former high school coach in Connecticut and western Massachusetts and wrestling benefactor, will be honored at the 2022 induction ceremony along with Drew Black, head coach at Wesleyan University; Mike Cunningham, head coach at Xavier High in Middletown; Dr. Erich Doubek, a long-time tournament organizer and co-founder, historian and supporter of New Milford Wrestling Association; Sarah Jadach, chair of the Connecticut chapter of USA Wrestling; Bryan McCarty, head coach at Platt High in Meriden and the late Frank Kapral, wrestling coach at Coast Guard, long-time official and author.
In accordance to the local and state regulations when the meeting was held in May, all participants wore masks at the meeting.
