Aaron Seidel (Schaefferstown, Pa./Southeast RTC/Titan Mercury WC) has been named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week.
Seidel was the Pennsylvania winner of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award in 2025.
Seidel stormed to the U20 World Team Trials title, outscoring his opponents 52-1 across five matches. He was one of just two athletes to win the U20 Challenge Tournament and then win the best-of-three championship series at the U20 World Team Trials.
In the challenge bracket, each of Seidel’s three contests ended in the first period. He started with a 10-0 technical fall just 53 seconds into his first match against Brady Collins. In the semifinals against Tommy Wurster, Seidel notched a 12-1 victory. In the challenge tournament final, Seidel posted a 10-0 shutout of Carter Pearson.
Moving on to the best-of-three series against Elijah Cortez, who earned the bye into the finals, Seidel scored a pair of 10-0 tech falls. With his title at the U20 World Team Trials, Seidel is now slated to represent Team USA at the U20 World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Seidel’s U20 title comes after placing fourth at the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament. During his freshman season at Virginia Tech, Seidel captured NCAA All-American honors after placing third at the national tournament earlier this year.
Before his collegiate career, Seidel collected four Fargo All-American honors. He won the Junior title in 2024 and was runner-up in 2023. In the 16U division in 2022, Seidel placed sixth, and he placed third in Greco-Roman in 2021.
