NEWARK, N.J. – The 2026 Final X, presented by Kerberos Capital Management, showcase opened on Friday afternoon at Prudential Center with U.S. National Team spots in 10 weight classes being decided—six in men’s freestyle and four in women’s freestyle.
Army WCAP’s Samara Chavez scored an elite win over 2025 World Team member Felicity Taylor at 50 kg. She ended things quickly with a 10-0 technical fall to highlight the women’s freestyle true-third bouts.
Also on the women’s freestyle side, Alex Hedrick won a battle of past age-group World medalists 5-3 over Amani Jones at 57 kg, and Latifah McBryde took it 8-2 over three-time age-group World medalist Jasmine Robinson at 68 kg.
Three men’s freestyle bouts were contested, with a down-to-the-wire finish between Parker Keckeisen and Aeoden Sinclair leading the way. Keckeisen took the match on criteria, 5-5, to make his first Senior National Team at 86 kg.
Other men’s freestyle winners were Evan Wick, who earned a gritty 8-4 win over Patrick Kennedy at 79 kg, plus Dustin Plott routing Seth Shumate in a 10-0 first-period technical fall at 92 kg.
Four athletes received wins by forfeit—Austin DeSanto (61 kg), Beau Bartlett (65 kg) and Landon Robideau (70 kg) in men’s freestyle, and Reese Larramendy (65 kg) in women’s freestyle.
True-third matches determine the No. 3 athlete on the U.S. National Team for the 2026-27 season. These matches are specifically held in weight classes where the second- and third-place finishers from the last Final X qualifying event—either the U.S. Open or Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament—did not wrestle against one another in said qualifying event.
The winner of each true-third match is eligible for U.S. National Team support, including funding, training, and competition opportunities.
The action continues from Prudential Center at 2 p.m. (ET) with round one of the best-of-three championship series to determine the U.S. World Team.
