Rollin Schimmel is recognized for his years of dedication to the development of leadership and citizenship in young people through the sport of wrestling.

Coach Schimmel was a 1967 graduate of Eastern Oregon College, where he was a four time NAIA All American, including the 1967 NAIA championship and outstanding wrestler award.

Rollin’s Pendleton and Glencoe teams placed in the top 10 at the state tournaments 16 times in 23 years. He coached 56 State Placers with 11 of them being runner ups and crowning 12 state champions. In 1982, Coach Schimmel was named “Coach of the Year“ in the state of Oregon. He became Athletic Director at Pendleton high school, a position he held for seven years and later he returned to coaching at Pendleton again.

For his dedication and lasting influence on Wrestling, Rollin Schimmel is presented the National Wrestling Hall of Fame‘s “Lifetime Service to Wrestling“ award for the class of 2002.
