Ted DeRousse began his coaching career at Lake Zurich High School and continued at Antioch High School.

He has served as Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association secretary, United States Wrestling Federation cultural exchange director, District I wrestling federation director, and director of numerous USWF state and national tournaments in both freestyle and Greco-Roman.

DeRousse has officiated numerous USWF tournaments and reached the category of international official. He served as the Illinois chairman for USWF while actively promoting wrestling at all levels.
