Ray Stapp was the wrestling coach at Western Heights High School in Oklahoma City for 27 years.

His interminable career reaped eight Oklahoma state champions and 38 place-winners.

Stapp was selected as the 3A Coach of the Year in 1979 while receiving the Governors Accomplishment Award in 1995 and being the All-State team coach in 1999.

He has been a member of the Oklahoma Education Association, the National Education Association, the Oklahoma Coaches Association, the National Wrestling Coaches Association and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.

Coach Stapp was an Oklahoma state high school champion and was a National Junior College Athletic Association national champion at 115 pounds in 1967 for Trinidad State in Colorado.

He was a three-time Big Eight champion and a three-time NCAA Division I All-American for Oklahoma State, finishing second in 1970 at 118 pounds and fourth in 1969 and 1971 at 115 pounds and 118 pounds, respectively.

Stapp won the Masters World Championships in 1994.
