Harvey Weigle

Harvey Weigle was an outstanding coach and teacher for 26 years. In 1964 he began his coaching career at John Marshall High School where he remained until 1971. He then moved to Miami Springs High School. He was at Miami Springs for two years. He coached wrestling the next twenty years at Moore High School. During his 26 year career, Weigel coached teams to three state titles in 1968, 1969 and 1970, and had a winning percentage of 82 percent, with his teams consistently finishing in the top 10 in the state tourney. His overall career dual record was 127-47. Weigle retired from coaching in 1995. Weigle was recognized by his peers when he was named Coach of the Oklahoma Wrestling All-Star Team in 1982. He was twice named Oklahoma Wrestling Coach of the Year in 1968 and 1970, and the National District V Coach of the Year in 1971 and 1977. Besides his wrestling coaching career, Weigel has umpired in more than a dozen Amateur Softball Association of America National Championships during almost a 30 year career.
