Art Steves

Art Steves has truly given a lifetime to wrestling at Fort LeBoeuf High School. He coached wrestling at LeBoeuf for 27 years, 26 as Head Coach. His teams achieved 325 victories with 80 losses and 7 ties. Art won 8 varsity letters while participating in football, basketball and baseball at Union City High school. He was the Class President in both his Junior and Senior years, graduating in 1954. He went on to Slippery Rock State College (now University), receiving his degree in Health and Physical Education in 1958. He joined the wrestling program at Fort LeBoeuf in 1962 and after one year, became the Head Coach in 1963. He coached 88 individual Sectional champions, 23 PIAA District X champions, 5 Central Northwest Regional champions and 12 PI AA State place winners including 3 State Champions. His teams won 14 Section championships, 6 District titles, 2 Regional titles and 32 overall tournament team titles. He was inducted into the Metro Erie Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1989. He was honored with placement on the Fort LeBoeuf Wall of Fame in 1995. Steves also served as assistant football coach at LeBoeuf for 21 years. Now retired from education, Steves resides in Waterford , Pa.
