Harvey Sitler

Harvey Sitler graduated from Montoursville High School in 1956 and Lock Haven State College in 1960, where he was a member of the wrestling team for two years. In 1964 he earned a M.Ed. from Villanova University. After serving in the 18th Airborne Corps, he came to Lancaster and began teaching in the Lancaster Township School District. In 1976 he was named Head Coach at McCaskey and has compiled a 171-118-3 record in dual meet competitions. His teams have won one Lancaster-Lebanon Section Championship and placed second 5 times. He was voted Lancaster-Lebanon Section 1 Coach of the Year 2 times. During his 30-year career, he has coached 29 Sectional Champions, 10 District Champions, 5 South Central Regional Champions, 16 State Qualifiers and 6 State place winners. His coaching career does not show what may be Sitler's most important contribution, not only to wrestling, but to humanity: the number of inner-city boys he took under his wing salvaging them for a constructive role in society.
