Dan Ackley

West End Athletic Club 1975-1979 Curtis High School 1979-1981 Western Washington Wrestling Officials Association 1981-2001 Pacific Northwest Wrestling Officials Association 2001-2005 Snohomish County Wrestling Officials Association 2005-2018 During a lifetime of involvement in the sport of wrestling Dan Ackley has felt privileged to participate in the sport that has given him so much over the years. Ackley wrestled at Sehome High School in Bellingham and Wilson High School in Tacoma. Dan then wrestled three years at the collegiate level at Biola University in Los Angeles, California. When he returned to the Pacific Northwest after college he began coaching at the kids level with the West End Athletic Club in Tacoma. He then was an assistant coach at Curtis High School for two years. In 1981 Dan began his wrestling officiating career. He spent his first 21 years of officiation with the Western Washington Wrestling Officials Association in Tacoma. In 2001 he transferred to the Pacific Northwest Wrestling Officials Association in the Seattle area for 4 years. His last 14 years has been with the Snohomish County Wrestling Officials Association. As Ackley moved up the ranks in his respective Wrestling Officials Association he has been an active leader. In the Western Washington Association he served as a board member, president and assignor. When he was with the Pacific Northwest Association he served as a board member, official's trainer and president. With the Snohomish County Association again he served as a board member, official's trainer and president. Ackley's officiating and leadership skills have resulted in him being awarded the Official of the Year and WIAA Service Awards. During his state tournament officiating he was consistently ranked in the top 12 officials at Mat Classic the State Wrestling Championships. During the last three years Dan has been the Head Official at Mat Classic supervising the 36 working officials at the tournament. Dan is the facilities manager for the Crista Ministries in Shoreline and enjoys boating in his free time. Dan and his wife Kimberly currently live in Snohomish and Dan has two adult children Tameron (40) and Desiree (39), and two stepdaughters Haley (29) and Karley (27). They have three grandchildren, Jack, Reece and Charlie.
