Randy Haught
Randy Ray Haught is a native of Eighty-Four, PA. He graduated from Trinity High School, Washington, PA in 1969, where he lettered in wrestling for three years. Randy went on to letter in wrestling for four years at California State University, California, PA where he set the school's dual meet record of 61-12-1 and became their first NAIA All American. After graduating in 1973, Randy moved to Birmingham, AL to continue his education. He earned his AA in Education from the University of Montevallo, followed by a Juris Doctorate Degree from Birmingham School of Law in 1977. During this time, Randy also began his officiating career, which has spanned more than 45 years, and includes 31 AHSAA State Championships, 3 High School Wrestling National State Championships, 4 independent High School Wresting Championships, 3 years as a SEC Wrestling official, and 1 SEC Wrestling Championship. In 1994, Randy participated in creating Dynasty Youth Wrestling League to train, develop, and encourage the sport of wrestling at the elementary level. He started his coaching career in 2001 as Head Coach at John Carrol High School for a year, followed by a year at Pleasant Grove. From 2004 to 2005 Randy was Head Coach at Hoover High School, where he coached the 2005 AHSAA State Championship team. He was awarded Class 6A 2005 Coach of the Year, and one of his wrestlers, Will McCutcheon (189 lb), was awarded 2005 Wrestler of the Year. Randy served as Assistant Coach at Fultondale High School under Coach Billy Hughes from 2006 to 2008, during which he was awarded 2007 NWCA Assistant Coach of the Year. He was Assistant Coach under Coach Paul Moore at Hayden High School from 2008-2010 and then Head Coach at Sumiton Christian High School from 2010 to 2017. Randy is currently continuing his coaching career as Mat Coach at Gardendale High School. Randy's wife of forty years is Patty Moore Haught; they have two children, Bradley Haught and Jennifer Ware (Aaron) and one grandson, Isaac.
