David Vannoy

Dave was not a wrestler, nor has stepped on the mat as a wrestler, but WHAT a supporter of the sport for nearly his entire adult life. Dave coaching baseball and football from 80-88 and was the coordinator to organize fund raising and tournaments. In 1983, Dave started volunteering as a football and wrestling coach (and mentor) for the School District of Lancaster. He coordinated, organized and consulted to the booster clubs, and assisted in off season weight training. Dave also planned and organized summer camps, transportation, and planned the funding for tuitions and team motivational apparel. In 1993, he donated temporary office space for setup of the PA Chapter of the NWHOF and the NWCA Headquarters. In 1993, Dave became one of the charter members in the newly formed PA Chapter of the NWHOF. He assisted in establishing the state chapter blueprint for by-laws, banquet organization and varied of fund raising activities. The PA Chapter was the very first one formed by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Since then, nearly 40 chapters across the USA have been chartered, with PA being the model. Today, this same organization is honoring Dave for his 25 years of service to the Chapter and to the Hall. In 2010 Dave became Board Chairman for Lancaster Alliance Wrestling, and in this role, he managed the club operations at Franklin and Marshall, as well plans for the elite training and traveling arrangements. In 2016 he became a Board Member on the Wrestler in Business Network, Lancaster Chapter. Lancaster WIBN is a dynamic organization and a startup program to demonstrate techniques of "growing wrestling." This refers to publicizing the sport, creating opportunities to showcase the accomplishments of past wrestlers in their business endeavors, and demonstrate how lessons learned through wrestling translate to success in life. This is important, with many wrestling programs across the country experiencing shrinking numbers, and institutions dropping wrestling. Dave's business acumen and his organizational abilities are of great value to assist in building wrestling. So many wresters from the Lancaster area, can look back at how Mr. Vee assisted to develop their skills, and know that his selfless contributions were always offered in the spirit of love of the sport. One wrestler has said, "Lifetime Service to Wrestling and this nomination is fitting, because those words, and the honor encapsulates exactly what Mr. Vannoy has given to the sport of wrestling. He truly has given a lifetime service to wrestling." Dave is semi-retired and the owner Mr. V's Cash Register Co. He and his wife Marlene reside in Millersville, PA.
