Allen Held was a head wrestling coach from 1990 to 2023 with stops at Hallendale High School, South Broward High School and Cypress Bay High School. He also served as head football coach at Hallendale and South Broward.

Held had a career record of 733-146 and coached nine state champions, 66 state place-winners and 123 state qualifiers. One of his state champions was his son A.J.
