Steven Jastrabek
Steven John Jastrabek grew up with two passions, Hairstyling and wrestling. He wrestled for Pope John High School in Sparta,NJ where he was All-State and took a 3rd in the state championships his senior year, 1978. He was captain of the post graduate wrestling team at Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ in which he won a National championship in 1979. Steven John wrestled at Nationally ranked powerhouse Clarion State University in Clarion, PA from 1980-82 compiling a 32-7 career record and was a Freshman All-American 1st Team selection along with several prominent tournament individual championships. Steven John's freestyle record after college was 35-3, including State and National Freestyle titles and a selection to a World Cup Trial invitation in an effort to make the 1988 Olympic Team, only to fall short in the 3rd round of action. Jastrabek's career mark after 11 seasons sits at 205-24-1. Steven John credits wrestling for giving him the confidence to build a celebrity clientele at Steven John Salons in Bernardsville, NJ. Steven John is considered one of the best hairstylists in the world and Ranker.com selected him for its All-Time Hall of Fame hairstyling list, along with being on a Who's Who list of prominent hairdressers and being named an Elite salon in America. He has never lost his love for the sport of wrestling and was instrumental in fundraising for the 2000 United States Olympic wresting team. He founded the New Jersey Night of Champions program, which raised more than $1 million for amateur wrestling in 2004. Steven John is also the executive director of the Night of Legends Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for amateur wrestling. Steven John's earliest roots to raising funds can be traced back to 1981, where he began working with Children International and underprivileged kids. "Three decades of children have been very rewarding". Currently Steven is president of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's New Jersey Chapter and is on the Board of Governors at the NWHOF Museum in Stillwater Oklahoma. Steven resides in Bernardsville NJ with his wife Dr. Lin Jastrabek (Vice President of NWHOF NJ Chapter) and Lin's daughter who attends Liberty University.
