Eustice is a well-known name to wrestling fans in Minnesota. A Janesville, Minnesota native, Jack Eustice is at the forefront of that highly recognized wrestling name of success. This outstanding wrestler and coach succeeded at every level and endeavor he pursued. First as an athlete, Jack Eustice wrestled for Hall of Fame Coach Mike Niemczyk at Janesville High School and captured the ultimate in high school wrestling by winning a Minnesota state Title in 1973. This was preceded by a 4th place State finish in 1972. Eustice was a 4-time Region One Champion in one of the State's toughest Regions during that era. From high school Jack attended Mankato State University (now Minnesota State-Mankato) and wrestled for legendary Hall of Fame Coach Rummy Macias. The success did not stop there! Jack became a 4-time NCAA ll All-American, capturing the National Championship at 134 lbs in 1976. Along the way he was a 4-time North Central Conference Medalist. The NCC being possibly the toughest NCAA ll conference in the nation at that time. He was NCC Champion in 1976. He also served as MSU Team Captain his Junior and Senior years. Success just continued for Eustice as he pursued a coaching and teaching career when he landed a coaching position at Lake Crystal-Welcome Memorial High School in 1977. He then was hired as Head wrestling Coach at Blue Earth High School in 1978, coaching & teaching there through 2001. At Blue Earth High School Eustice teams accumulated an overall 263-87-4 record and captured six Team Region/Section titles. His 1997 team finished as State runner-ups and his 2001 team brought home a State Team Championship to Blue Earth. In all, Eustice coached wrestlers on to 18 individual state titles, 7 of those titles belonging to his own sons, Luke and Tyler. Both sons went on to become NCAA l All-Americans while wrestling at the University of Iowa. Luke was NCAA Runner-up at 125 lbs in 2002 and Tyler was a 2-time All-American, placing fifth in 2005 and Runner-up in 2006, both placings at 149 lbs. Eustice was named Minnesota Wrestling "Coach of the Year" in 1997. He was selected Region/Section "Coach of the Year" ten times! Coach Eustice has been recognized for both his accomplishments as a wrestler and coach by being inducted to the Mankato State Athletic Hall of Fame, the NCAA II Hall of Fame, the Region One Wrestling Hall of Fame, and the Dave Bartelma-Minnesota Wrestling Hall of Fame. He was also named to the NCC "Top 75 Years" Wrestling Team and named a "Top 10" Athlete of the Century at Minnesota State UniversityMankato. Jack also did his part to serve the coaches and athletes of Minnesota, serving as President of the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association. He also served as Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament Director and Table workers Coordinator from 2006 to 2015. . He has also served as a Camp Clinician at numerous wrestling camps over the years. In addition, he served as a Wrestling Official from 1977 to 1987. Upon his retirement from coaching in 2001, Eustice pursued administration. He got his start as a Principal at his alma mater Janesville high School. He moved on to the Principal position at Blue Earth High School. Jack Retired from that position, and accepted the Superintendent position for the Nicollet Independent school district 507, in which he still serves. A great coach, teacher and administrator, Jack Eustice is a name that will always be respected in the history of wrestling in Minnesota. He and his wife Mona still live in Blue Earth. None of the coaching efforts would have succeeded if not for the countless hours Mona spent working with the Buc Wrestling Boosters and her time on the freestyle circuit working tables. Mona worked for over 30 years as a first grade teacher and gave honest encouragement to many future Buc wrestlers. Luke is Director of Wrestling Operations for Iowa and he and his wife Jenny have two children, Peyton (5) and Charlie (3). Ty works as director for Jrob Intensity Camps and he and his wife Dani have two children, Jack (12) and Cami (2).
