Tom Ott

Tom Ott wrestled 3 years at Governor Mifflin High School, graduating 1961. He wrestled at Elizabethtown College until his career ended with a broken leg. Tom then went to the University of Maryland, earning an Electrical Engineering degree in 1968. Tom served in the U.S. Air Force for 5 years before his discharge in 1969. From 1976-1981, Tom was an assistant coach for Wilson Elementary Wrestling. He was Assistant Tournament Director for the Wilson Jr High Tournament for 3 years. He then became Tournament Director in 1978 and continues today. Since then, it has grown into a very prestigious double elimination event with 40 teams. Tom has been the South Central AA Regional Wrestling Tournament site manager, ever since it moved to Wilson High School 15 years ago. Tom began officiating in 1981, and had a 20-year career. He did District and Regional Tournaments in 15 of those years, and officiated the PIAA State Championships twice. During his active years of officiating, and continuing into his retirement, Tom has served his fellow referees. In 1983 he became the assigner of officials for the Berks County Wrestling Officials Chapter and the liaison to the Berks County Interscholastic Athletic Association. Tom still continues to perform those duties today. Tom was an elected member of the Wilson Board of Education for 20 years. He is a member of the Berks County Hall of Fame. He and his wife Janice had one child, and now reside near Milton, Delaware.
