Walt Fisk

WALTER FISK Walt Fisk graduated from Lycoming College in 1981. He was the wrestling team captain for legendary National Wrestling Hall of Fame Coach Bud Whitehill. After college, Walt coached Sayre youth wrestling for 2 years, then 3 years at Wyalusing junior high. In 1986, he was named Head Coach of the Wyalusing varsity team. Walt's Rams won 12 League Championships, 9 Sectional, 6 District 4, and 6 Regional team titles. They were State Team Runner-Up twice, and State Team Champion three times. Walt coached 83 Sectional, 27 District, & 21 Regional Champs. He had 33 PIAA medalists, including 7 State Champs. His sons, Josh and Matt earned 6 of those PIAA medals. Josh placed 6th and 4th. Matt was a Runner-Up, placed 3rd, and won 2 PIAA titles. Walt was Dist. IV Coaches' Assoc. President, PWCA President, Exec. Committee member, and Convention Committee Chair, NWCA State Rep. and BRUTE National Wrestling Tournament Event Director, REACHES Exec. Director, and PWCA Convention Chairman. He is a member of the Sayre High School, Wyalusing High School, Northern Tier League, Northeast Sectional, District IV, and the PA Wrestling Coaches' Halls of Fame. In 1997, 1999 and 2000, Walt was the PIAA State Wrestling Coach of the Year. In 2000 he was the National High School Wrestling Coach of the Year. And in 2004, Walt was honored as the Pennsylvania Wrestling/Wrestling USA Man of the Year. Walt's career record at Wyalusing was 297-52-1. He retired as head coach in 2005, but in 2011 returned as a junior varsity coach, and still continues in that capacity. Walt and his wife Kathy reside in Wyalusing
