Warren Reid
Head Wrestling Coach at Toms River East High School from 1976 to the present, Warren Reid is a paragon of the New Jersey wrestling world. In addition to being the current Head Wrestling Coach, Reid held the Assistant Coach position of the same high school from 1977 to 1979 and the position of Assistant Coach at the University of Alabama from 1973 to 1976. Reid is a leader of notoriety, inspiring devotion and success in his wrestlers. This attitude has allowed him to lead his teams to multiple titles over the years, including the South Conference Champion three times, District Championships eight times, First in Region 6 three times, Top 10 in the state eight times, has qualified for sectionals 20 times, and has placed Second in Group 4 State Sectionals 5 times. Within the individual competative sector, Reid can boast 6 State Champions and 27 State Place Winners, 12 Super Region Champions and 30 Regional Champions, and 69 District Champions with over 100 Champions at both Freestyle and Greco Roman capacities, and has acted as a US Wrestling Federation Volunteer Coach for 28 years, an assistant for 18 and as the head of the program for 10 years. Reid has been named the Assistant Director of the University of Georgia Wrestling Camp in 1976, the Director of the Florida YMCA Wrestling Camp on Orlando in 1975, and was the Assistant Director at Bridgewater-Raritan Wrestling Camp for 15 years. Reid's dedication to the sport and to his wrestlers had inspired devotion and a hardworking attitude which has led to accolades and awards being bestowed upon him. Some of these awards include the NJ Wrestling Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 1995, the NJ Wrestling Coaches Association Region V Hall of Fame in 1992, the NJ Scholastic Coaches Hall of Fame in 1993, the John J. Hallisey Memorial for Outstanding Service in 1988, District 24 Coach of the Year for 1995, 2001, and 2003, Region VI Coach of the Year for 1985, and NJSIAA Shore Conference Region 6 Hall of Fame in 2009. Warren Reid remains one of the most influential members of the wrestling community, as these awards and his many championships show.
