Stanley Woods
Stan Woods is an influential member of the wrestling community at large, Under his belt are coaching positions at Randolph High School for five years, 43 years as Head Coach of Emerson High School, and 607 career wins, most of which were in the State of New Jersey. He also held the position of Head Football Coach from 1987 to 1996. Woods team titles include 31 League Championships, 8 State Sectional Titles, 11 B.C.A. Group I Championships, and ten Bergen County Group I and II County Championships. Other championships include that of the 1980 Lenape Valley Tournament, the 1981 Parsippany Tournament, the 2002 Kearny Tournament, the 2007 Princeton Tournament, and the 2011 Lakeland Tournament Championships. Woods administrative awards include his title of Region President from 1976 to 1981 and President of the State Coaches Association from 1982 to 1985. The dedication and passion Woods brings to the sport has been recognized and awarded in the forms of various personal awards, including those of the Harry E. Lake Award in 1995, the Bergen County Coach of the Year Award in 1974, 1983, 1997, 2007, and 2011, the District Coach of the Year Award in 1983, 1994, 2007, and 2011, and the Regional Coach of the Year in 1983, 2007, and 2011. In addition to his numerous contributions to the wrestling world, Stan Woods has been a prominent member of the Emerson Mayor and Council from 1978 to 1989, serving as Council President in 1982, and has been active in the Teachers Association, serving as President from 1987 to 1989, proving that dedication to wrestling begins at home on the local stage.
