James Butler
Jim Butler was a fixture sitting at mat's edge with his camera for decades before his untimely passing in July 2012. At every significant wrestling event, regardless of when and where it was, Jim was recording the action for the Clearfield Progress, the Keystone Wrestling Round-Up or other newspapers he supplied with wrestling photos. He was a pioneer in taking wrestlers a state to summer tournaments. His interest and generosity helped many wrestlers achieve their goals. Jim created the first Individual State Rankings in the early 80's. He was a past Wrestling USA Magazine Sportswriter of the Year, Scholastic Wrestling News Magazine Writer of the Year, co-winner of the Amateur Wrestling News Dellinger Award, District 6 Man-of-the-Year, Amateur Wrestling News Photographer of the Year and National Wrestling Media Association Photographer of the Year. In 1999, he was inducted into the District 9 and the PWCA Halls of Fame. In 2003, he was inducted to the District 6 Hall of Fame. Jim is survived by his three children, Troy, Candi and Kevin.
