P. A. has been a 35+ yr referee. He served as assigning officer for 22 years in the largest referee association in the state, Middle TN Wrestling Officials Association, starting in 1998, and was responsible for the recruitment, retention and development of the referees in his area as well as the assigning of officials and coordination with the coaches. He worked 35 state tournament finals and is a respected official known for being calm in pressure situations. P. A. established a shoe program within his association to provide wrestling shoes and equipment for those who could not afford them. "Money should never be a reason someone isn't wrestling" is a phrase he often said. He was part of the 'new board' established to revive the Tennessee Chapter in 2005 and has served as its President for many years. Since retiring from officiating in 2020 he has been a TSSAA State evaluator and remains an avid hiker and highpointer. P. A. is a true ambassador for our sport.
