Bernard Reider
The wrestling coach of Jackson Memorial High School from 1966 to 1981, Bernard L. Reider epitomizes good sportsmanship on and off the mat. With a coaching record of 160-59-2, it is not difficult to admire the work of this dedicated coach. A graduate of Penns Valley High School in Pennsylvania and Penn State University, Reider can boast having coached four State Champions, fourteen Regional Champions, and forty-two District Champions. His team titles include seven District Championships, six Conference Titles, and three prestigious Holiday Tournament Championships. Reider's dedication to the sport and to Jackson Memorial High School is evident in his work and experience. In addition to serving as coach to the wrestling team, Reider spent seven years as the school's Athletic Director, as Principal, and then as Assistant Principal, as well as serving as Principal and then Director of Adult Education and after school care at the high school. Reider also serves as a Trustee for the Jackson Memorial High School Athletic Hall of Fame, keeping his legacy and the tradition of athleticism alive. In addition to his school commitments, Reider's administrative experience includes acting as Director of the Shore Conference Wrestling Tournament, serving on the New Jersey State Wrestling Coaches Association Committee, and serving as Chairman of the New Jersey State Ranking Committee. He has also been named Region Six Coach of the Year in 1980, Shore Regional Conference Coach of the Year on several occasions, and has been inducted into the South Jersey Wrestling and Shore Sports Hall of Fame as well as the NJSICA Coaches Hall of Fame.
