David Kinney

A graduate of Somerville High School where he was a two time NJ State Champion at 148 pounds, followed by a four year collegiate career at Purdue University, David W. Kinney remains loyal to his roots as the Head Coach at Somerville High School. Prior to taking on this role, David served as Assistant Coach for the same high school while also volunteering as a Coach for the Middle. In total, his coaching record is a staggering 174-60-2. David's team titles include three Conference Team Championships, four County Team Championships, and six District Team Titles. Additionally, David can boast having coaches one State Finalist, ten Regional Champions, and thirty-four District Champions. David continues to serve on the NJSIAA Committee to select the outstanding wrestler at the State Championship Tournament and is a member of the Board of Directors for the NWHF New Jersey Chapter. He has been named Home News Coach of the Year, Region 5 Coach of the Year, and District Coach of the Year. David can also claim induction into the New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Hall of Fame as well as a Charter Member to Somerville High School's Athletic Hall of Fame. David has also been inducted into the Region Five New Jersey Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame and has acted as s NJSIAA District Eighteen Regional Representative for Criteria Seeding. David's dedication to the sport and superior coaching can be seen in his receiving the first annual Rocky Forte Memorial award, given to a devoted and dedicated individual in the wrestling field.
