Donald Seeley

Donald S. Seeley has earned his wrestling wings as an outstanding sports journalist. He has been a member of the Pottstown Mercury for 33 years, serving as Sports Editor for the last 17 of those years. Don has covered wrestling for the papers for 42 years, missing only two PIAA State Championships in that time. His weekly columns on high school and collegiate wrestling have intensified interest in wrestling for over 27 years. He has researched and compiled a detailed history of District One and is a recipient of the Wrestling Round-Up's Writer-of-the-Year Award. He is a member of the inaugural class of inductees into the District 1 Wrestling Coaches' Hall-of-Fame, and is also is a member of the Tri-County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall; the PA American Legion Sports Hall of Fame, and the Spring-Ford Area School District's Wall of Fame. Don has been the recipient of more than 40 local, regional, state and national awards for sports writing. Don and his wife Kathleen have two children: Brenda Schlicter (43); Alison Hurd (38).
