Dick Santoro

Dick Santoro was an outstanding wrestler and official. He wrestled at Bethlehem Liberty High School, winning 2 District 11 titles, going undefeated in dual meets in 1949 . At Lehigh University, Dick was undefeated for three years. He was the EIWA Plebe Champion in 1956 at 137 lbs. He was 2nd in the EIWA at 147 lbs. in 1957, then won the EIWA Championship in 1958 at 147 lbs. and also in 1959 at 137 lbs. He placed 3rd in the NCAAs in 1959 at 137 lbs. Dick was also the Olympic alternate at 136.5 lbs. in 1960. His officiating career was also a sparkling one. Dick officiated high school and college for 27 years. He served as District 11 Rules Interpreter for 20 years. Dick served his country in the United States Marines (1950-54) and was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Dick is a member of the EIWA Wrestling Officials, the District 11 and the PWCA Halls of Fame. He and his wife Mary have five children. Sons Richard and Patrick were both outstanding wrestlers. Pat is currently the head coach at Lehigh University.
