Lloyd A. Rhoades, Jr. has been involved in wrestling for many years. He was a member of the BEA Class of 1970 and wrestled for Cach Joe Humphreys (also being honored in this class today). He started coaching when he was in 10th grade at BEA Elementary Intramural program organized by Coach Humphreys. Then in 1978, Lloyd organized the Bald Eagle Elementary Wrestling Club as a season-long club and remained as head coach until 2001. During this time, the club has averaged 80-90 wrestlers a season, but has boasted as many as 120 wrestlers in two of those years. Lloyd served as a PIAA Official from 1973-1981 and officiated the District 6 Championships twice. Spreading his talents, he then became the Secretary-Treasurer and Chief Business Officer of Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling (PJW) in 1994 and remains in that capacity to date. Lloyd has been the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Area II, Section 1 Tournament Director since 1984. Lloyd is a member of Bald Eagle Area Wrestling and the District 6 Coaches Association Halls of Fame and was been named the District 6 Man of the Year in 2002. He did extensive research in compiling and publishing 56 years of wrestling hitory and statictics in "The History of BEA Wrestling." He was the prime driver for PJW's move to the eastern half of PA, growing the organization to a fully statewide organization, expanding from three age divisions in 8 areas to five age divisions in 11 Areas. There were 6353 wrestlers who competed in this event in 2008-09. He and his wife Eileen have three children, Julie Valora, Mickey, and Matt. He continues to reside near Howard, the Bald Eagle Area School District.
