Lois Hinkel was introduced to the wrestling scene in 1956 through marriage. Lois became a familiar face at wrestling events. Local qualifiers provided the skills needed to work the tables at regional, state tournaments and national events. She paired at Olympic Trials, Northeast Regionals, Pennsylvania State Tournaments-Cadet and Juniors, National Collegiate Freestyle, and Cadet and Junior Nationals. Her experience expanded to the collegiate level including PSAC Championships, D-1 Eastern Regional's and D-11 Eastern Regional Championships. She was recognized by the Pennsylvania State Wrestling Federation in 1986 and 1988 as the Pairer of the Year. She received the first Ivan Okon Award as Pairer of the Year at the Cadet and .Junior Nationals at the University of Northern Iowa in 1992. Her contributions to the sport extend beyond the mat. She is a mother of two wrestlers, supportive partner to a dedicated coach, a willing volunteer for related demands, recruiter, academic coach, and an avid fan. All of this has been and still is a situation that provided priceless dividends. For her 55 years of volunteer service, Lois Hinkel joins her husband Dan as the newest member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for her "Lifetime Service to Wrestling."
