Ed Sheakley

As a high school wrestling coach in two wrestling-rich states - Iowa and Oklahoma - Ed Sheakley has accomplished much during his career. From 1979 through 1982 Sheakley coached LDF schools in LeGrand, Iowa. As the head coach at Madill High School in Oklahoma from 1982 through 1986, he led his team to a fourth-place finish at the state tournament in 1985. Sheakley spent his final years coaching at Clinton High School, earning Region I Wrestling Coach of the Year honors in 1988, and retiring from coaching in 1990. But Sheakley's service to wrestling did not stop there. He continued as the state director of Oklahoma high school wrestling from 1992 through 2009, bringing Oklahoma into compliance with NFHS wrestling rules in 1995. For his years of service to wrestling, the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame honors Ed Sheakley with its Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award.
