Allan Long

After three and half years of military service in the Navy during World War II, Allan Long devoted over a quarter of a century to serving wrestling. From 1949 through 1975 Long served as the head wrestling coach at Geary High School. During that time, he produced eight individual state champions and led eight wrestlers to titles at the Geary tournament, the most prestigious high school tournaments in the nation. In addition to his coaching duties, Long served as the president of the Oklahoma Wrestling Coaches Association from 1963 through 1964 and in 1975, was nominated for National Wrestling Coach of the Year honors. In 1973, Long entered the Oklahoma High School Coaches Hall of Fame. For his dedicated service to wrestling, Allan Long is being honored with the Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award by the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
