Dennis Beck
Dennis Beck is a longtime resident of Lancaster, NY, where he resides with his wife, Kristy. They are the proud parents of a son, Jeremy. Dennis graduated from Kansas Weslyan University in 1972 where he was a three time All-Conference tackle on the football team. 2007 marked the close of a long and illustrious wrestling coaching career for Dennis Beck at Lancaster High School in Western New York. Dennis left a record of excellence that few in the coaching profession can match. He became Western New York's all-time winningest coach. Dennis coached 31 years at Lancaster High School and amassed a wrestling record of 387-72-2. During his coaching career at Lancaster, Dennis' teams captured 16 Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division I Championships. He coached 27 Section VI champions, 15 state placewinners, and 1 state champion, all of which attest to his wrestling and coaching expertise. Dennis is a member of the Westem New York Coaches Hall of Fame and a recent inductee into the Kansas Weslyan University Hall of Fame for 2009. Dennis developed his own personal "signature" style of coaching. When you faced a Lancaster wrestling team three things were understood; you would be facing a very well conditioned team, you would be facing a fundamentally well trained team, and most of all you would be facing a team that wrestles HARD, with a great amount of pride. Upon his retirement from coaching, Dennis left a legacy of many loyal, enthusiastic former wrestlers who have gone on to coach high school, kids' clubs, or open wrestlers to carry on and promote the sport and the Lancaster wrestling tradition. Dennis' passion for wrestling rubbed off on many of his former athletes. There are presently ten of his former wrestlers coaching in Western New York today and a few others coaching out of state. Dennis Beck's winning philosophy will echo for many years in the wrestling rooms across Western New York. First, be determined, second, be prepared, and lastly, you've got to have a plan to win, and you've got to practice! The Upstate New York Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame is pleased to recognize the accomplishment of Dennis Beck by inducting him into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
