Ken Wunderley

Ken is known state wide as wrestling's "Mr. Stats." He has been a promoter of both scholastic and collegiate wrestling since he began his career as a newspaper writer. Without his perseverance, the history of Pennsylvania Wrestling would not be as complete as it is today. His contributions to bring the sport of wrestling to the public's attention are the reason he is receiving the "Lifetime Service to Wrestling" Award as a Media Contributor. He is sole proprietor of Tri-State Sports 8 News Service, a news outlet that works directly with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. For several years Ken was statistician for Penn State University sports information department and since 1984 is the statistician for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ken was designated as WPIAL Statistician & Historian, and has statistics on scholastic and college wrestling as far back as 1936. He was the creator of the WPIAL Web page. In 1989, Wrestling USA magazine named him "National Wrestling Writer of the Year." During his career he has covered WPIAL, PIAA, NCAA wrestling tournaments for various outlets and the Associated Press. Of course he has covered the Dapper Dan Classic 20 out of the past 25 years. His publications include: History of WPIAL Wrestling 1936 to 2004, History of Allegheny County Wrestling, History of Westmoreland & Fayette County Wrestling only to mention a few.
