Ron started his coaching career in 1974 when he accepted a position of assistant junior high coach at Fox Chapel Area and little did he know that except for one year he would remain at Fox Chapel for the next thirty-six years. The one year Ron left Fox Chapel he was the head coach at Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School. But in 1980 he returned to Fox Chapel where he still is the head wrestling coach. In 2009, Coach Frank hit a milestone in his coaching career when his team won its 300th Meet. His career victories now stand at 325, second most career wins among active WPIAL coaches. He serves on numerous wrestling boards and since 2005 has served as President of the WPIAL Wrestling Coaches Association. He is a member of the Executive Committee for the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association, the Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic and is Co-founder of the Allegheny County vs. Westmoreland County Champions Wrestling event. Ron's Fox Chapel wrestlers have competed for Maryland, Pitt, Duquesne, the US Naval Academy, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Pitt Johnstown, Gannon, Arizona State, among others. Some of his proudest moments do not include his wrestler's wins but the success the kids have alter wrestling. He has coached wrestlers that have become doctors, Peace Corps volunteers, Army officers, neurosurgeons and even coached one boy who became a monk.
