Frank Vulcano, Jr.

Frank Vulcano, Jr. is honored for his lifetime of service to the sport of wrestling as an official and contributor. 

As an official, he worked five Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state individual tournaments, 18 Southwestern Regional tournaments and one state team tournament final. Frank officiated at three NCAA National Championships, nine National High School Championships and eight Dapper Dan Wrestling Classics. 

He is currently serving his 10th year on the WPIAL Wrestling Committee and has served as District Wrestling Chairman, WPIAL Board of Control, Vice-President of the WPIAL Athletic Director's Association. Since 2009 he has been president of the of the WPIAL Athletic Director's Association. 

It is his contributions to the Dapper Dan Classic and the Powerade Christmas Tournament that lead the way. Frank has served as director of the Powerade event, consistently ranked as one of the top five toughest tournaments in the country, for 24 of its 43 years. He has been a Dapper Dan Classic committee member since 1996 and has been co-director since 1999. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Pittsburgh, funding after-school wrestling programs that have benefitted more than 1,400 young people. 

Frank was USA Wrestling’s Man of the Year in 2003 and was inducted into the Southwestern Pennsylvania Hall of Fame in 2005.
