Kraig is being honored today for his lifetime service as a volunteer coach and contributor to Western Pennsylvania Wrestling. In 1985, Kraig volunteered to coach and be a workout partner for many young men just starting their wrestling careers with the Shaler Area Wrestling Association. He remained as a volunteer for the next 17 years. Kraig was not happy with just the giving of his time to Shaler but decided to expand his volunteer work and contributions in many other areas. The Dapper Dan Charities asked Kraig to serve on the committee in 1986 and in 1999 he was named Co-Director of the Dapper Dan Classic, a position he still holds. His big responsibility is for the financial and ongoing success in the Classic. The Dapper Dan Classic, dubbed "The Rose Bowl" of wrestling is the most prestigious high school all-star meet in the country. By the way, Kraig was a member of the 1979 Pennsylvania All Star Team. In1996 and 97 he was a member of the organizing committee that raised $10,000 in sponsorship revenue for the first major international wrestling event in Pittsburgh. In 2002, Kraig became Director of the wrestling program at the Boys and Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania. He developed a youth program at four Clubs from the proceeds of the Wrestling Classic. These programs have introduced wrestling to thousands of inner-city youths living in under-served and high risk environments. In 2005 he was inducted into the Southwestern Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.
