Marshall Schlosberg

October 26, 1951 - February 19, 2024

Marshall Schlosberg has served wrestling both as a coach and official since 1977.

As the head coach of the Newark Valley High School wrestling program from 1977-84, Coach Schlosberg directed his teams to three class championships in 1981, 1982, and 1984. During the same period, his wrestlers also won league titles in 1980, 1981, and 1982.

As an official, Marshall worked both high school and collegiate events for 31 years.

Cumulatively, he officiated 16 Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championships, three NCAA Division lll National Championships, two Division l Championships, and three New York State Interscholastic High School Championships.

Marshall was inducted into the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Officials Association Hall of Fame and the New York State Intercollegiate Coaches Association Hall of Fame. From 1987-2003, he has served at the EIWOA rules interpreter and has been president of the EIWOA since 1997.

Marshall acknowledges coach Don Jackson of Kennedy High School, Steve Erber, official and coach at SUNY Binghamton, and fellow officials Ricky Cole, Mark Piven, and Carl Koenig as special individuals who have had influence on his career.

Marshall and his wife Elizabeth lived in Sylvania, Ohio where he worked as an investment advisor and specialist for the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. Recently, their family returned to New York State to live in Scotia, New York. The Schlosbergs have a daughter Dela.

The Upstate New York State Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame is pleased to recognize the accomplishments of Marshall Schlosberg by presenting him with the Lifetime Service to Wrestling award.
